Buckö Solo Project
|
|
 |
 |
This project started in 2000, the idea came about in 1998, and a year
after my best friend and co-writer Billy Walsh passed away. The band I was in at the time was going to help me with the project,
unfortunately this did not happen. Not long after this I left the band and formed a new band. The band was named AMPUT8 (
Amputate ). We still planned to start the project, but due to conflicts within the band we decided to split up. Geoff and
John encouraged me to record three tracks, FULL MOON, GOOD FRIENDS OF MINE and AMPUTATE. After doing this it gave me the Hunger
and determination to complete this project. I spoke to Simon and he asked me what I was going to do with these three tracks
and what I was going to get out of it. (Not the hard work)
I replied that this was one of my goals in life,
to do a solo album, recognition and putting all of my old and new material onto one CD, with a full band as apposed to myself
and my guitar.
BUCKO
Lead & Backing Vocal
Lead - Slide Acoustic - Bass & Rhythm
Guitar
Main Songwriter
Martin
was born with a curvature of the spine and spent most of his formative years, during which he had to have both legs amputated,
at various Dr Barnardos homes, including the New Mossford Center, where he began playing guitar at the age of nine years.
During his time at the New Mossford he met and teamed up with his first song-writing partner and soon to be best friend, the
late Billy Walsh. Together they formed MOSS-ROCK with other children at the center, all of whom suffered from varying disabilities,
during 1975. After several successful years and a name change to WIDE OPEN, which saw the band perform in Europe and Japan,
including several broadcast concerts, the band went their separate ways in 1980
Martin
and Billy continued to write and perform together, until 1992 when Martin was asked to play in the backing band for 60s diva
TWINKLE, which he did for two years, teaming back up with Billy, who by now was too ill to perform live, to write material
for a proposed album. Unfortunately Billy passed away in 1997 at the age of 36, before any tracks could be laid down. Martin
promised Billy that he would get the album finished.
Determined
not to let their efforts go to waste, Martin began a search for musicians to join him in the studio to create a tribute to
Billys talent. After five years of playing and recording with various bands in the South of England, Martin pulled everyone
together and during weekends throughout 2000/2002, at Big Noise Recording Studios in Rochford, ESSEX, under the guidance of
Chief Engineer, Simon Davies, and which puts a new twist on some of Billys songs.
Martin
currently plays guitar for Twice Removed, a British Rocking Rhythm n Blues outfit from Southend-on-Sea in ESSEX
whose motto is We are that damned good!! and who regularly play live around the Home Counties.

BILLY WALSH
Co-Songwriter & Inspirator
This is THE MAN. He is the inspiration for me being the
music industry, in particular this Album would not have come to finish without Billys input creativity and drive. He was the
greatest friend a man could have. Loyal true honest fun and always ready with a shoulder to lean on. We grew up together at
Dr Barnardos home for the physically disabled, where we found from an early age our mutual love of music. The last track we
wrote together which ironically was two days before he died was entitled MUSIC IN MY HEAD, which today is a song I am particularly
fond of. I was able to finish writing which we started together in 1997, in 2000 it was too painful to finish at the time,
the track is TOMORROW which I feel is quite appropriate. The track I feel that
sums the two of us up and will give you an idea of the bond between us is STRUGGLE. Please take the time to listen to this
track and maybe youll find a way through your lows in life.
Thank you Billy my friend forever you live on.
Rest in peace
SIMON DAVIES
Keyboards & Percussion & Sound Engineer & Co-Songwriter
This guy I have know for five years and have recorded albums with him in other
bands. This is the reason that I have asked him to work on this project, we are like chalk & cheese but work together
in harmony. Ill give you an example of how we work together. BLUEDROP was a song that we wrote together.
In creating this song we inspired each other with new dimensions that we have not explored before. He has pushed me to be
more creative in my work and made me want to create more. Thanks for the support!
I Dedicate This Album To My Sister 'MEL' And
In Memory Of "BILLY WALSH & JOHN DORAN"
This Album will be a Charity CD for Dr Barnardo's, as Billy & I were Barnardo's Boys
and Billy would of like this Album to get some good out of it.
I've spoken to Barnardo's and they will back me up, but we will need some more support for
this
GOOD FRIENDS OF MINE Prodject 2002.
We would like someone to MASTER it, DISTRIBUTE the CD in the shops and any contributions
& support to the Project.
Thankz BUCKO

FATMAN
Lead Vocals & Co-Songwriter
Traditional Roots Blues singer who is able to adapt easily and effortlessly
into the realms of Jazz and Rhythm & Blues & back again at will. His range is quite remarkable and his voice is not
only powerful but also melodic and earthly. He can make you wince with the power of his voice but can also send shivers down
your spine. This is a BIG MAN with an ever-big sound!
LONG
JOHN
Bass Guitar & Harmonica & Backing Vocals
Any more laid back this guy will be asleep. But dont be fooled by his quite
demeanor, this guy plays a mean Harmonica and who knows what hes going to do next. Long John brings adaptability and improvisation
and is able to make an ordinary track great not only with his Harmonica but his bass work really rocks. Add to that his backing
vocals and youve got one hell of a great musician.
KAZO
Backing Vocals
Lead Vocals on MY PARADISE Co-Songwriter
Blondie meets Tina Turner thats what you get with our Kazo. You think
shes sexy wait till you hear her sing. Her singing range is quite phenomenal. Shes been singing since the age of 11, this
woman has developed into one sassy and classy streetwise babe. Beware this vixen comes with attitude.
ROCKY
Bass Guitar & Backing Vocals & Co-Songwriter
The Godfather of the band with his experience ROCKY brings not only great
bass work but fun and laughter when it all gets a bit much. He brings calm to stormy waters and thats why we are able to get
such great sounds out. Wasted as a backing singer? Watch this space.
